Roopa Vasudevan [ Provocations for/on Technology ] Provocations for/on Technology is a series of five manually screen-printed QR codes. Artistic artifacts as much as they are functional digital tools, the codes in the prints contain flaws, misalignments and imperfections as a result of the printing process, but they are still scannable by mobile devices. With each code linking to a unique website that asks a question directly related to the user’s experience with technology, this set of QR-enable, mobile-accessed provocations obliges each user to reflect on their familiar engagements with technology. Vasudevan sees this piece as probing the unconscious choices we make when we use our devices and engage with technological processes, ultimately asking us to consider how we might develop and nurture consciousness about these practices.
